Leonard Adelman
Leonard Adelman is a professor in the Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research in the School of Information Technology and Engineering at George Mason University, Fairfax, VA. He received the Ph.D. degree in psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1976. His research is oriented toward understanding cognitive processes, and developing and evaluating systems to support them. Dr. Adelman has authored or co-authored more than 50 journal papers, book chapters, and conference proceedings. His three books are Evaluating Decision Support and Expert Systems (Wiley, 1992), Cognitive Systems Engineering for User-Centered Interface Design, Prototyping, and Evaluation (with Stephen Andriole, LEA, 1995), and Handbook for Evaluating Knowledge-Based Systems (with Sharon Riedel, Kluwer, 1997). In addition, he has participated in studies developing and evaluating prototypes for improving operational systems, including AWACS and Patriot. Dr. Ad elman is a senior member of IEEE and a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. |
