2010 Executive Development Board

Roles and Responsibilities

Title: Member, The Volgenau School of IT& Engineering 2010 Executive Development Board

Term: Five years, expiring on June 30, 2010. Members may be re-appointed to another board at the end of the campaign.

Qualifications: The Volgenau School of IT& Engineering 2010 Executive Development Board is comprised of select members with a strong commitment to leading our school to a position of recognized excellence. Potential members must be nominated by existing 2010 Executive Development Board members or the Dean.

Objectives:

  • To serve and promote the interests and advance the priorities of The Volgenau School of IT& Engineering as it strives to become a more prominent leader in technology and engineering and to advise the Dean as needed to move the school forward.
  • To engage in support activities for the 2010 Campaign through the solicitation of private gifts, grants, donations and bequests.
  • To serve as an advocate for the Volgenau School of IT& Engineering and George Mason University and help promote research and education.
  • To inform the Virginia legislature about the importance of the school’s contributions to workforce development and the relevance of its advanced research programs.

Expected Attendance:

  • Attend quarterly board meetings.
  • Attend small focus group meetings hosted by the Dean.
  • Attend special fund-raising and outreach events if possible.

Specific Duties:

  • Make an unrestricted gift commitment of $5,000 or more annually to the Volgenau School of IT& Engineering.
  • Members make a commitment to engage their companies into the school’s Corporate Partnership Program
  • Identify potential donors and assist the Dean in solicitation of leadership gifts to the school to help meet the goals of the “2010 Campaign.”
