Advisory Council

Roles and Responsibilities

Title: Member, The Volgenau School of IT& Engineering Advisory Council

Term: Members who contribute $1,000 annually to the school are considered active members of the Advisory Council and serve without term.

Qualifications: The Volgenau School of IT& Engineering Advisory Council consists primarily of senior-level corporate executives from information technology-based companies whose business base is closely related to the academic and research missions of the school. The Advisory Council was established to develop, expand, and strengthen relationships between the school and its corporate partners and to help secure financial support for the school and its programs.

Objectives:

  • To serve as advisors, promote the interests and advance the priorities of the Volgenau School of IT& Engineering as it strives to become a more prominent leader in technology and engineering.
  • To serve as an advocate for the Volgenau School of IT& Engineering and George Mason University and help promote research and education.
  • To inform the Virginia legislature about the importance of the school’s contributions to workforce development and the relevance of its advanced research programs.
  • To serve as a resource for membership on special purpose boards

Expected Attendance:

  • Attend one annual meeting at the school.
  • Attend special fund-raising and outreach events if possible.

Specific Duties:

  • Make a gift commitment of $1,000 or more annually to the Volgenau School of IT& Engineering.
  • Attend the Council meeting/reception and demonstrate commitment to school activities.
  • Represent the Volgenau School of IT& Engineering to the public and private industry.
