2010 Building on Excellence CampaignDear Alumnus: The Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering at George Mason University stands at a defining point in its history. The years ahead offer unprecedented opportunities for our School to attain a position of national and international leadership. Compelled by its mission and dreams for the future, The Volgenau School is boldly engaged in the 2010 Building on Excellence Campaign. This is our School’s first-ever fundraising campaign to raise more than $20 million in private support from alumni and friends by June 30, 2010. I am pleased to announce that more than $12 million has been raised. The most visible outcome of the campaign will be a world-class facility for teaching and research that will broadly and profoundly impact the quality of the School’s programs. The new structure will also be a significant step in establishing Mason’s position as a nationally recognized university with exceptional programs that attract excellent students and faculty. The building, which is scheduled to open in fall 2009, will be the second largest on the Fairfax campus. Prominently located between the Patriot Center and the Aquatic and Fitness Center, it will be highly visible to visitors entering from Braddock Road. The design will include a striking façade and beautifully landscaped grounds with a garden that take full advantage of this visibility. We need your help to ensure the success of our 2010 Building on Excellence Campaign and ask that you consider making a gift or pledge commitment which you would have by June 30, 2010 to complete. As a special initiative to help fund this urgently needed world-class facility, one of the goals of the 2010 Building on Excellence Campaign is to secure pledges of $2,010 from each of our IT&E alumni and friends by June 30, 2010. In tribute to those who have given $2,010 to the building fund, a private recognition reception will be held in the new building’s spectacular glass atrium to honor all donors to the building and a recognition wall will be unveiled. To make a gift or pledge online to the IT&E Building Fund, please click here. To make a gift or pledge by mail, you may click here to make a copy of the gift/pledge card (PDF) and then mail it along with your credit card information or your check, made payable to the GMU Foundation, to the address below: The Volgenau School of Information Technology & Engineering You may also wish to join our other donors who have decided to contribute at a level greater than $2,010. Donations at higher levels will be appropriately recognized in the new building. If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact me directly for additional information. On behalf of the entire Volgenau School faculty, staff, and students, I am grateful for your generosity and commitment in helping us make our School a premier academic and research institution. You are an integral part of our future. Sincerely,
Lloyd J. Griffiths Stay tuned: Plans are underway for an official groundbreaking ceremony this fall to be followed by a school-wide celebration. You will receive your invitation to this historical event in the coming months. |
